What is it all about?

As well as the actual process of selecting products and negotiating with vendors, you also have to communicate with related plants, department heads and program or purchasing managers about your ideas and hopes for the ranges you wish to buy. It means activities such as making request for quotes, change management, contract negotiations, payment queries, dispute resolutions etc.

You will be communicating your hopes but also having hard-headed logical business reasons for making your particular choices to ensure the cost-, quality- and time-oriented targets.

You will work alongside other departments in the organization and specialized in metals and mechanism commodities. You may also be involved in quality control and stock control or work with design teams when new ranges are planned, helping them prepare and give presentations.

You will guarantee financial controls over modular programs, deliver sourcing on time and under cost target.

The work is office-based, but you will also visit vendors, possibly abroad, so be prepared to travel when necessary (approximately 30%).

Who are you?

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 -3 years purchasing experience and skills, operational and strategic involvement or similar (the role is not suitable for logistic and administrative workers)
  • Previous experience in automotive or commodity related environment is preferable, but not necessary
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English; German is a huge advantage
  • Expertise in purchasing tools and practices; solid PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills across all internal and external levels and functions as well as capable to interact in diverse cultural environments
  • Problem solving skills and capability to work under the pressure
